ADMISSION

ADMISSION PROCESS - KINDERGARTEN

If you desire an application contact the school office, (520) 297-0922.

CCS Kindergarten is a full-day, academic Kindergarten; therefore, Casas Christian School has a number of policies that apply only for admission to this particular grade level.  These policies are listed below:

Students entering Kindergarten must be five (5) years old by September 1 of the current school year.  Students born later than that date are not permitted to enroll.  (Casas Christian Preschool has a special program for children missing the September 1 deadline.  Call the preschool for information, (520) 297-0393, or contact www.casaschristianpreschool.com.)

Students may register for enrollment according to the priority system as outlined in the general admission policies, but enrollment is not guaranteed until the following is completed:

  • All students and parents must participate in our Kindergarten Readiness Roundup.  Your child will participate in small group exercises simulating a classroom setting.  The purpose of this session will be to determine whether applicants have the readiness skills to begin Kindergarten.

  • While the children are in these activities, both parents are required to meet with a school administrator for a group orientation explaining CCS purposes, objectives, and programs.

  • The week after the Roundup, parents will be contacted about their child's eligibility to begin class at CCS in the fall.  The decision of the CCS staff is final in eligibility considerations.

  • Dates for the Roundup will be Saturday, March 13, 2010 and Friday, April 9, 2010.  CCS will host a Kindergarten Open House for parents on Tuesday, February 16, 2010.  Please reserve these dates.  Students cannot be enrolled into Kindergarten without participating in one of these Roundups.  (If a student enrolls after April 9, another Roundup will be scheduled.)

  • All the necessary paperwork (application form, emergency form, immunization form, student health forms) and fees must be completed and paid before a student will be invited to the Kindergarten Roundup.  If a student is determined ineligible to enroll after our staff evaluation, the registration fee will be refunded.  The application fee will be retained to cover the expense of the Roundup process.

All new students are accepted on a nine-week probationary status.  With young children, such as Kindergartners, it is often difficult to predict how they will adapt to school.  If a problem surfaces after school begins, we will confer with you to determine the best solution for both your child and for our classroom.

ADMISSION PROCESS - GRADES 1-8

If you desire an application contact the school office, (520) 297-0922.

STEP 1 (Optional)

Call the school office, (520) 297-0922, to schedule a tour of the CCS campus and/or to request an information packet.

STEP 2

Complete the Admission Application and turn in on the appropriate date listed below:

  • Current school year applications are accepted at any time.

  • Present students and their siblings begin registering for the 2010-2011 school year on February 1.  Re-enrollment must be completed by February 12 to ensure priority registration.

  • On February 15, registered members of Casas Church and families in the Casas Christian Preschool begin to enroll and have priority for one week.

  • On February 22, open enrollment begins until the class limits of 20 students per elementary class and 24 per middle school class are attained.  After that, names are added on a first-come, first-served waiting list.

STEP 3

Read the Parent Handbook and Admission Application carefully, paying particular attention to specific admission requirements.  Then, turn in the following completed forms with the Admission Application:

  1. Two years of grade reports (new students)

  2. Two years of Stanford Achievement Test or a similar standardized test (new students)

  3. Blue Emergency Card

  4. Photocopy of original immunization records (if student is enrolling in Kindergarten or if student has had a new immunization since February 2009)

  5. Photocopy of birth certificate (if student is enrolling in Kindergarten or is a new CCS student)

  6. Student Health Information Forms

  7. Request for Student Records Card (transfer students only)

  8. Application Fee (new students; non-refundable)

  9. Registration Fee (non-refundable)

  10. Financial Aid Forms (if applicable)

CCS Form with copy of 2009 Tax Return attached.

CFA Form should be mailed or faxed with a $25 payment.  (You can file online for $20.)

  11. Check to see if current tuition obligations are up-to-date.

  12. Middle School essay, "How have you grown in your relationship with Jesus Christ this past year?" (returning students) or "What Christianity Means to Me" (new students may choose either title).  (Students applying for grades 6-8 are required to write a one-page essay before their application will be reviewed.)

STEP 4

Participate in academic testing if deemed necessary.  (See special admission screening required of all Kindergarten students.)

STEP 5

Participate in a Group Orientation and/or an Admissions Interview with the Principal or designee.  (School administration reviews all applications, conducts the interviews and testing, and, under the authority of the School Board, admits those students who fall within the admission policy.)

All students are admitted on a probationary basis for the first nine weeks.  Applicants may not be allowed to continue if they have physical, emotional, academic, or discipline problems preventing CCS from fulfilling its objectives with them and/or other students.  If students finish their first nine weeks with less than a 1.70 grade point average, they will not be allowed to continue.
