We know choosing a school for your child is a big decision. Whether you are searching for a school, or are already a part of the Casas family, you probably have questions. To help you, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions. If your question is not answered below, we would love to speak with you. Contact us at (520) 297-0922.

  1. When does enrollment begin?

Current school year applications are accepted at any time through out the school year.

New Students are able to begin the pre-registration process now. Pre-registration is working through our first phase of the application, so that when open enrollment begins February 1, you will have first priority on available spots. For more information about pre-registration, contact our Principal, Joshua Kempf at 520-878-1165.

Current students and their siblings begin priority re-enrollment for the following school year in January. Online re-enrollment must be completed by January 31 to ensure priority registration for current students. Please login to ParentsWeb to begin your re-enrollment process.

Open enrollment begins on February 1 until we reach our limit of approximately 20 students per elementary class and 22 per middle school. After that, names are added to a first-come, first-served waiting list.

  2. When will I receive classroom assignment information?

Information such as class placement, teachers welcome packets, and pertinent school year information is emailed mid-July.

  3. Do most students remain at Casas through 8th grade?

Many students choose to remain at Casas until they transition into high school because of our small class sizes, Readiness Model, and our supportive teachers and staff.

The benefit of our students staying at Casas through 8th grade is that we’re able to keep them in a middle school environment without exposing them to high school life early, including the social pressure that comes with the influences of being around high school age students. Our students are able to grow in confidence and self-esteem while being in a smaller, less pressured environment.

  4. How does Casas compare to other schools academically?

Casas utilizes programs to evaluate the level your child is at in math, reading, and language. We use these tools to create an appropriately modified curriculum that meets students at their readiness level. This approach takes into consideration your student’s learning style because no two children are exactly the same. Not only do our standards meet those of public and charter schools in the area, we exceed them!

Our students consistently test above their peers from other schools nationally in reading, math, and language…including charter schools in the area! If you are interested in a specific grade level and how they compare, feel free to call Joshua Kempf, our Principal, at 520-878-1165 to get your specific questions answered right away! 5. Do I have to be a member of Casas Church to send my child to
    Casas Christian School?

You do NOT need to be a member of Casas Church, or any area church to enroll your child at Casas Christian School. We are a church and school community that welcomes everyone with open arms. We currently have 38 churches from around Tucson represented at our school, so if you are interested in finding a church, we would love to give you some suggestions.

  6. Does Casas offer after school activities and how do we sign up?

We offer after school activities throughout the year such as: Golf, Tennis, Floor Hockey, Worshipping Warriors, STEM Club, and Orchestra. Class enrollment information is available on our After School Activities page. A flyer may be sent home with your child when available.

  7. How do I enroll my child in Extended Care and how much does it cost?

All enrolled Casas students have access to Extended Care any time it is offered. Extended Care hours are 7:00-7:45am before school, and 3:10-6:00pm after school. Students who are not picked up within 10 minutes after the end of the school day are automatically escorted to Extended Care. The cost is $3.80 per hour, and we bill in 15 minute increments. Families will receive an hourly use charge on their billing statements.

  8. Do I have to be a Christian or church goer to enroll at Casas?

Absolutely not! We are a missional school, which means that people from all walks of life are welcome to enroll at Casas. We believe this model creates a beautifully inclusive environment in which to learn and grow.

  9. HOW IS CASAS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN TUCSON?

Casas is unique in many different ways. We are the only missional school in Tucson and one of only a few in the country. Being missional means we see our school as a mission; therefore families do not need to share our faith in order for their children to attend our school. We also believe in teaching children how to be missional and show Jesus love at all times. In addition to being missional we also use what we call Readiness in order to teach our students. We want our students to love learning so we strive to meet them exactly where they are – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and educationally. We challenge them with appropriately modified lessons, all with consideration for their learning styles. If you were to walk into a classroom you would not see a lot of direct instruction but rather collaborative instruction as students work on improving skills in small group environments.

  10. What does missional mean practically? What do students learn
    about faith?

If you went to Casas years ago, or know someone who did, they will likely share with you how they learned to recite Bible verses or memorize the books of the Bible in order or they may remember receiving an A, B, C, D or even F as in other courses. And while some might lament this lost practice in our Bible classes, we believe the shift we’ve made has a deeper, more profound impact on the relationship our students have with Jesus.

While memorization connects with the head, our relationship-centered instruction connects with the mind, heart, and soul of a child.

    Missional instruction prioritizes:

    • Deep critical thinking about faith
    • Asking questions and working through challenging faith struggles in a safe environment
    • Owning your beliefs
    • Modeling inclusion to those around you
    • Creating a sense of unity with the world around them instead of judgment towards those who have a different worldview
    • Standing with people instead of on issues

Missional also means your child will not be in a class where 100% of the students are exactly where they are in their faith journey, and we love that!

Because we are missional and prioritize a personal relationship with our students without judgment, your child will be seen, known and loved regardless of your family’s faith structure or lack thereof. We believe it is absolutely beautiful and essential for our Christ following students to learn to love others they do life with.

Every year we get to celebrate students who choose to give their lives to Jesus. This past year 33 students gave their lives to Jesus and 14 were baptized during our school wide baptism event.
